Sims expansion pack beats Star Trek Online in Feb NPDs

The NPD has released its list of February's 20 best-selling PC titles. With a string of high-profile PC releases including Star Trek Online and BioShock 2, the list this month is a little more varied than the Sims and Warcraft love-in the NPDs usually show. Here's the monthly results:1) The Sims 3: High-End Loft Stuff--released Feb. 20102) Star Trek Online--released Feb. 20103) The Sims 3: High-End Loft Stuff--released June 20094) Star Trek Online Collector's Ed.--released Feb. 20105) BioShock 2--released Feb. 20106) EverQuest II: Sentinel's Fate Expansion Pack--released Feb. 20107) Mass Effect 2--released Jan. 20108) World of Warcraft: Wratch of the Lich King--released Nov. 20089) The Sims 2 Double Deluxe--released Nov. 200810) The Sims 3: World Adventures--released Nov. 200911) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2--released Nov. 200912) World of Warcraft: Battle Chest--released Sept. 200713) EverQuest II: Sentinel's Fate Expansion Pack Collector's Ed--released Feb 201014) IGT Slots: Texas Tea--released Sept. 200915) The Sims 3: Collector's Ed--released June 200916) Dragon Age: Origins--released Oct. 200917) Mumbo Jumbo Assortment--released July 200918) World of Warcraft--released November 200419) Aliens vs. Predator--released Feb. 201020) The Sims 2: Fun with Pets--released Jan. 2010

So technicallyStar Trek Online was outsold by a Sims 3 content pack. There is a possibility, however, that the combined sales of STO and its #4 ranked collectors edition may have been enough to push it to the top slot, but the NPD doesn't combine sales of regular games and associated bundles, despite the fact that it does so for its monthly console rankings. As an MMO, we're sure STO will enjoy more of a long tail in terms of sales, so we look forward to seeing it on the NPDs for months to come.

Paleyfest 2010 honors 'The Vampire Diaries' with an evening of laughs

Paul Wesley's self-proclaimed biggest fan, Melinda Miller, traveled to Los Angeles from North Carolina just for the Paley Center for Media's celebration of "The Vampire Diaries" on Saturday night in Beverly Hills. After her long flight, she arrived early at the Saban Theatre and stood in line outside in the rain -- for eight hours. Twitter, was proudly clad in her "Team Stefan" T-shirt.

It was well worth the effort when, during the Q&A portion of the panel, Miller was the first fan to take the microphone. She certainly seized the opportunity to talk to Wesley. "I belong with you," Miller blurted happily, much to the delight of the entire crowd and, of course, Wesley himself. "My question is for, obviously, you. Do you ever get nervous filming a scene? Like, you know, the amazing sex scene?" she asked. "If you don't have time to explain your answer, please feel free to get my number after the show. You have the: Best. Abs. Ever."

The room full of fans and admirers clapped and whistled as Wesley removed his microphone and hopped off the stage to give Miller a hug and a couple of kisses on the cheek. There's nothing quite like watching a bona fide fangirl share a moment with the object of her affection.

Cast and crew agreed that Miller's moment was the highlight of a great evening of vampire fun, which included a clip from "Once More With Feeling," the musical episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," and a screening of an upcoming episode of "The Vampire Diaries."

The honored guest panelists were executive producers Kevin Williamson, Julie Plec and Bob Levy and stars Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev and, of course, Paul Wesley. For them, the phenomenal success of the show is only just starting to sink in. Plec recalled watching a Dodge Charger "Man's Last Stand" commercial during the Super Bowl, in which men lamented the sacrifices they made for the women in their lives. "The men say, 'I will be nice to your mother. I will watch your vampire TV shows,' " Plec said. "And I thought, prior to us there was only one vampire TV show on the air! Plural means we matter!"

The cast members joked that they spent so much time with one another that they should just buy a house and move in together. "I'll need a walk-in closet," Dobrev was quick to inform the men.

Though she, Wesley and Somerhalder are quite obviously very close, there's no shortage of good-natured ribbing, either. Somerhalder, who would later thrill the audience by sinking one of his signature vampire bites into Dobrev's wrist, teased her about her tendency to pack heavy. "We were only away for one day," he said, remembering a trip when Dobrev's luggage got lost. "Paul and I had backpacks, and Nina had this big suitcase."

"They left me at the airport," Nina wailed. "On my birthday!"

As for their on-set time together, everyone agreed that flashback episodes were their favorite ones to shoot, despite the painful corsets Dobrev got strapped into when she played Civil War-era vampiress Katherine Pierce. They also mentioned that the numerous fight scenes between vampire brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore can get a bit dicey. "I literally sent Ian to the chiropractor," Wesley said.

"He moved my rib," Somerhalder agreed.

Writers Williamson and Plec shared that they got bored in the writers room, so they tended to break their stories at Jerry's Deli or IHOP. "Our characters' lives get dictated by what happens at IHOP?" Ian laughed.

"Well, the one in West Hollywood has valet," Plec said.

Kevin Williamson assured fans that more flashbacks were on the way: He's writing a flashback episode right now. In the meantime, he gave us another kind of blast from the past when a "Dawson's Creek" fan complained about the series' finale, in which Joey Potter chose to be with Pacey over Dawson.

"She chose them both," Williamson insisted. "Dawson and Joey are forever. He wrote a show about her! They're together forever." He paused. "She's having sex with Pacey, though."

The evening was full of laughs and some insider insight into what had become easily the CW network's most successful show. Melinda Miller remembers it mostly as a blur. "My brain feels like it is trying to block the memory so I don't maintain a perpetual smile for the rest of my life and risk a possible heart attack at remembering that Paul Wesley's amazing lips touched my cheek!" she says. "I don't think I have any idea as to what was said on the panel."

Don't miss Melinda Clarke's highly anticipated first appearance as Kelly Donovan when "The Vampire Diaries" returns with an all-new episode March 25 at 8 p.m. on the CW. And, as always, chime in below if you've got any comments or questions!

Great news for Jennifer Morrison's fans, she will be back to "House M.D." not only one time but probably a couple more. The actress who plays Cameron in the medical drama told TV Guide that she heard the writers are writing a storyline for her character.

"There have been discussions of me doing a few episodes next year based on what they end up writing," said Morrison. "Contractually, they've guaranteed me a certain number of episodes next year - I think three or four, which means that they're probably very much leaning toward writing a storyline for the character."

Cameron left in the eighth episode of season 6 after a medical case that shook the moral core of the doctors. Writers decided to exclude her in several episodes after that but bring her back on this April 12 episode titled "Lockdown". When the hospital is sent into lockdown mode due to a missing infant, all of the doctors must remain where they are. Chase is with "an old flame". Hugh Laurie directs the episode.

Since she was off the obligation on the drama series, Morrison is engaged to the Broadway adaptation of Helen Keller's story, "The Miracle Worker". Playing the mother of Helen, Morrison is co-starring Abigail Breslin who takes the role as the courageous blind girl. The play opens at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre until March 27.

Fox Expected To Announce End Of "24"

Anne Lu - Celebrity News Service Contributor

Los Angeles, CA, United States (CNS) - Jack Bauer's time is ticking. Fox is expected to announce the end of its hit action series "24 dvd seasons" after eight seasons on air. It is reported that the network is planning to ax the Kiefer Sutherland-starrer after the end of the current season.

"24 seasons" helped boost the network's ratings when it premiered in 2001, but its cost of production also continued to increase as its ratings take a continuous slump.

According to Variety, the 20th Century Fox TV is considering to shop the show to other networks, but it fears "24 seasons dvd" will only have a few interested buyers.

But it looks like the news won't overly concern Sutherland and the rest of the team. They are said to be planning on making a feature film adaptation of the show, and it won't be possible if a continued storyline is still happening on TV.

"24" gathered numerous nominations and awards since its debut, including an Emmy, SAG, and Golden Globe win for Sutherland.

Heigl to check out of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

Series creator has reportedly agreed to release actress from her contract

After a six-year “Grey's Anatomy” stint marked by almost as many controversies as triumphs, Katherine Heigl is thisclose to getting what she has long desired: a discharge.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that series creator Shonda Rhimes has agreed to release the fast-rising movie star from her contract. It’s now up to ABC Studios and Heigl’s reps to hash out a final exit agreement. (A rep for ABC Studios declined to comment. Coincidentally, as of today Heigl is without a publicist.) Why is this all coming down now? That’s where things get interesting…

After taking more than half of the current season off to make another movie and connect with her adopted daughter, Heigl was scheduled to return to the “Grey's Anatomy” set on March 1 to begin work on the five remaining episodes of the season. There’s just one problem: March 1 came and went and there was no Heigl.
A source within the actress’ camp claims Heigl “was at home and ready to return to work.” Another insider, however, “insists it’s much more complicated than that.” The source adds that talks between Heigl and ABC have been going on for months and last week both sides mutually decided that the best solution would be to part ways now as opposed to at the end of the season. As a result, Heigl is not expected to return to the “Grey's Anatomy” set, which means her final episode as Izzie has already aired.

The break-up caps a long history of tumult between Heigl and “Grey's Anatomy.” Here’s a quick recap of some of the more high-profile squabbles:

* In 2007, Heigl found herself in the middle of the TR Knight/Isaiah Washington feud when she publicly dissed Washington for repeating the F word at the Golden Globes.

* In 2008, Heigl took a swipe at “Grey's Anatomy” writers when she announced that she wasn’t entering the Emmy race because “did not feel I was given the material… to warrant a nomination.”
* Over the summer, she groused to David Letterman that “Grey's” was subjecting her to intolerable working conditions. “Our first day back was Wednesday,” she said, “and it was — I’m going to keep saying this because I hope it embarrasses them — a 17-hour day, which I think is cruel and mean.”

Bottom line: There’s no love lost on either side as this whole sordid chapter comes to an end.
